Biochemistry
With the course of study leading to the degree of PhD in Biochemistry its intended that the students:
. demonstrate the ability to design, implement and develop a line of independent research (recognized by the ability to publish in international journals with peer review);
. demonstrating a systematic understanding of a given area of Biochemistry and master the techniques and methods of research associated with that field;
. produce, through their original research, contributions extending the frontier of knowledge in an area of biochemistry, through to the development of remarkable scientific work;
. acquire skills that enable their integration in the labor market as Biochemical professional in careers such as research, teaching or industry-connected industries in biochemistry, biotechnology and life-sciences.
A doctor in Biochemistry should be able to communicate with his peers, in the wider scientific community and with society in general about their areas of expertise, and to promote, in academic and professional contexts, the scientific and technological advances in knowledge-based society. He should be able to participate and contribute to the underlying goals of scientific research: excellence, quality, multidisciplinary and internationalization.
