Equality and Inclusion
Gender equality and the reduction of inequalities are two of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) defined by the United Nations (UN) 2030 Agenda. This is a current and important debate for the construction of society, to which Universidade de Lisboa is no stranger to, being clearly stated in its Charter of Rights and Guarantees.
To deepen its activities in this area, ULisboa has launched in 2022 a Plan for Gender Equality, Inclusion and Non-Discrimination, with the objective of developing a structure, a culture and a set of actions to create and monitor equal opportunities and the reduction of inequalities, including those arising from gender.
At the same time, the ULisboa’s Network for Gender Equality, Inclusion and Non-Discrimination was created, to monitor the measures associated with the implementation of the plan. This network, which includes a representative from each School, from the University Administration and from the Social Services, aims to promote the exchange of experiences, actions and recommendations, in order to contribute to an inclusive university as a whole.
ULisboa is also a partner in international initiatives in this area, such as the Erasmus + project of the Unite! network, in particular the work package on diversity, inclusion and well-being. Another initiative is the Erasmus + Inclusion, Diversity and Equity in Mobility (IDEM) project, which aims to promote the international mobility of the most vulnerable students.
