Biotechnology and Biosciences
The IST PhD program in Biotechnology and Biosciences is designed to prepare a new breed of creative researchers to translate basic bioscience discoveries into technological innovations in the fields of Industrial, Agro-Food, Health and Environmental Biotechnology. The program is aligned with the research developed by faculty and researchers of the Department of Bioengineering at IST, with the Biological Sciences and Bioengineering Research Groups of IST/IBB, and with other IST-associated centers in the Biotechnology field.
The PhDs in Biotechnology and Biosciences are specialized in the development of scientific research and technological development in Biotechnology (Bioengineering and Biological Sciences) and in entrepreneurship in Biotechnology.
Access and ingress
A 2 nd cycle (doctoral) formation in biological engineering, bioengineering, biomedical engineering or biological sciences is an excellent basis for a doctorate in Biotechnology. Candidates with other scientific or technological background attracted to this extremely dynamic area can be also admitted, and their doctoral program will aim at complementing possible gaps in their undergraduate formation.
