Goals

With the award of a PhD degree in chemistry students must:

. demonstrate having a systematic knowledge of a particular area of chemistry and master the techniques and methods of research associated with that field;

. demonstrate ability to conceive, implement and develop a line of research in chemistry, with accuracy and integrity;

. produce, through original research, a contribution that expands the frontiers of knowledge in chemistry, recognized by the publication of the research results in international peer-review journals;

. present skills enabling their integration as business or professional chemists.

A doctor in chemistry should be able to communicate with peers, with the wider academic community and with the society in general on all aspects related with their areas of expertise, and to promote, in academic and professional contexts, the advance of science and technology in a knowledge-based society, encouraging students to participate and contribute to the underlying objectives: excellence, quality, multi-disciplinarity and internationalization.
