Culture Studies
By means of a strong theoretical research, the Ph.D. course aims at, on one hand, providing the students with skills of systematic understanding and research methods in the field of what is internationally known as Sciences of Culture and Cultural Studies. On the other hand, the course aims at contributing to the articulation of that broa field with an ever-changing social and cultural reality. Highlighting contemporary and classical trends of social existence, the Ph.D. course intends to provide professional skills in the context of the multiple practices and discourses intertwined in the world.
Academic Path: Oriented towards research in areas associated with the study of culture. This path is especially associated with the thematic lines of Theories of Culture (Identities and Power) and Communication, Discourse and Society.
Pathway in the Culture or Business Sector: within the scope of a relationship between cultural analysis, strategy and communication, and cultural management, our program supports applied research projects with a sectoral or institutional orientation in cultural projects, in cultural and artistic institutions, and in the business fabric itself. This path is especially associated with the Trends and Culture Management line.
Access and ingress
a) Applicants with a Master degree or equivalent; b) Applicants with a university degree or equivalent holding a relevant scholarly and scientific curriculum, that is recognized as such for engaging in a Ph.D. course by the scientific council of the FLUL. c) Exceptionally the applicants holding a relevant scholarly and scientific curriculum, that is recognized as such for engaging in a Ph.D. course by the scientific council of the FLUL.
