Comparative Studies
The study cycle aims at providing students with comprehensive training in Artistic Studies and Comparative Studies, based on in-depth knowledge of art history and criticism, as well as of different models of interartistic and interdisciplinary relationships.
Within the mission of School of Arts and Humanities, ULisbon concerning teaching and research in the Humanities, this B.A. presents a specific offer in the field of Artistic Studies: it congregates curricular units that signal the main areas of research in Comparative Studies, and combines critical knowledge of artistic and cultural traditions with reflection on contemporary issues, thus fostering the students’ informed intervention in the cultural practices that shape contemporary society
Mandatory ECTS (120) include courses on Arts, Literature, Culture and foreign Languages.Optional curricular units comprise conditioned options in these specific areas (36 ECTS) and free options than can be selected among all courses offered at FL.
Graduates in Comparative Studies develop activities in areas such as artistic and cultural education, text production and editing, cultural and critical journalism, content production, working as cultural agents, artistic and literary advisors or as researchers in different areas.
Many of the graduates in Comparative Studies continue to study, entering master's and 3rs cycle courses in the areas of Humanities and Social Sciences.
