Electrical and Computer Engineering
Provide students with a solid basic education that enables them to follow the evolution of knowledge and technologies throughout their professional life, including fundamental theories and knowledge of electrical and computer engineering, e.g., in:
• Conventional, solar and wind power generation systems.
• Communication systems.
• Image processing algorithms.
• Computational circuits.
• Machine learning algorithms.
• Networks of sensors and other devices.
• Autonomous robots with artificial intelligence.
• Systems programming.
• Terrestrial and satellite communication networks.
• Provide students with solid knowledge in basic sciences: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
• Provide students with solid, rigorous and coherent, scientifically based expertise in all the specialization areas of Electrical and Computer Engineering, which enable them to follow the subjects of downstream curricular units, as well as the technological developments in the areas they will follow in their professional life as engineers.
• Develop students oral and written communication skills.
• Develop students ability to work both individually and in team.
• Develop students analysis skills, together with a critical, flexible and creative spirit, that make them to become a factor for progress in the most diverse activities and sectors of Society.
Employment and research opportunities for electrical and computer engineers are many and quite diverse, in power generation, telecommunications, aerospace, automation, healthcare or banking companies, to name but a few.
