Information Systems and Computer Engineering Alameda
Computer Science and Computer Engineering is an area with a vast impact in today's society as computers are everywhere: on our desks, in the form of tablets or mobile phones, embedded in pacemakers or insulin pumps, controlling lights or industrial systems, in automobiles or airplanes. The applications of this area range from organizations and their management, to the telecommunications, banking, insurance, health, education, justice, defense,... including culture and entertainment.
Instituto Superior Técnico’s (IST) Degree in Computer Science and Engineering (LEIC) is offered in the Alameda and TagusPark campus with identical curriculum, following the main recommendations of international professional associations such as ACM and IEEE.
The main objective of the LEIC is to provide students a solid background in the field of Computer Science and Computer Engineering, with a well-structured curriculum, based on techniques and best practices promoted internationally.
At the end of the LEIC degree, students can continue their education in IST’s Computer Science and Engineering master program (MEIC), with several areas of specialization, in a similar program, or enter the labor market. Following Bologna’s mobility principle, LEIC’s students can continue their postgraduate studies at IST or in another higher education school in Portugal or in other top-ranked international universities.
LEIC’s graduates meet the requirements for professions such as software developers and designers, system administrators at SMEs, among many other. If they graduate also from MEIC, they become able to have virtually any profession in the area, in large companies and organizations, national and international.
