Studies of Culture and Intercultural Communication
The course aims to form upper staff workers able to adapt themselves with flexibility to the conditions and demands of a constantly fluid work market, both in the public and private sectors of communication and culture. The Sciences of Culture course's planning, instead of adopting a rather technical and practical profile (typical of those offered by the Escolas Superiores de Educação in the area of Social Communication), is focused in stimulating the students to develop performances with the ability of conception and diagnosis, as well as of intervention and application in the areas of communication and culture (i.e. media, media criticism, investigation and cultural management).
Our alumni dedicate themselves to various activities such as cultural production, cultural programming advice, research in cultural studies, communication studies and media studies, cultural management and cultural heritage, journalism and cultural criticism. of (and in) the media, the analysis of visual culture, cultural and communication consultancy in companies, cultural animation in central and local government bodies, or the production and editing of texts.
Many graduates in Culture and Communication Studies continue to study. The degree gives access to all FLUL masters, 3rd cycle and to postgraduate courses in the Humanities and Social Sciences.
