Bioinformatics and Computacional Biology
The Master's Degree in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology aims to provide advanced training in the areas of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology as a complement to the 1st Cycle training. The Master's is intended for students in the 1st Cycle of Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Agronomy, Health Sciences and related areas as well as for students in the 1st Cycle of Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, Mathematics and related areas who wish to acquire complementary training in the interface areas between Life Sciences and Information and Computer Technologies. This training will be multidisciplinary, seeking to provide students with advanced and specialised knowledge with application in areas of cutting-edge scientific research and in areas of growing employability for highly qualified human resources with differentiated training, such as the Pharmaceutical, Health and Biotechnological sectors.
The Faculty of Sciences was a pioneer in the teaching of Bioinformatics in Portugal, with the first course started in 2002. Thus, we already have an accumulated experience and knowledge of more than 20 years of teaching and research in the area.
The best evidence of the quality, internationalisation and interdisciplinarity of the Masters is in the more than one hundred dissertations of this Master's degree which are available for consultation in the Repository of the University of Lisbon.
