Clinical and Health Psychology
The Master in Clinical and Health Psychology (MPCS) allows the option for one of three areas of specialization – Dynamic Clinical Psychology, Integrative Cognitive-Behavioral Clinical Psychology, and Systemic Clinical Psychology – Family, Community and Forensic Contexts and, in line with the expected in this cycle of studies (in accordance with EuroPsy), aims to prepare students for an independent professional practice guided by competence, reflexivity, responsibility, ethical sense and autonomy. In this sense, the general objectives are:
• Acquire, reflect and know how to apply theoretical, practical and ethical knowledge particularly within the scope of Dynamic Clinical Psychology, Integrative Cognitive-Behavioral Clinical Psychology, and Systemic Clinical Psychology;
• Acquire, reflect and know how to apply knowledge and skills of evaluation, prevention, intervention and research common or specific to such approaches;
• Acquire, reflect and know how to apply in-depth knowledge about theories or models, general principles, strategies and specific technical interventions in one of the three mentioned approaches.
The Master in Clinical and Health Psychology enhances Graduates' access to a diverse range of systems within the scope of the labor market, namely: Physical and Psychological Health Systems (e.g., Hospitals; Maternities; INEM; Health Centers; Development and Psychopedagogical Centres, Units for the Treatment of Addictive Behaviors and Addictions, Associations and Centers for Integration and Support for Disabled People, Intervention Centers in Clinical Psychology, Psychological Support Offices in Schools and Universities); Judicial and Forensic System (e.g., Courts; Court Support Teams) Intervention Systems in the area of Risk and Danger (e.g., Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa (SCML); Family Support Centers and Parental Counseling; Aldeias SOS; Movement of Defense of Life); Intervention Systems in the area of Adoption (e.g., Social Security Institute; SCML); Intervention Systems in the area of Aging (IPSS - Day Centers; Homes for the Elderly); Community Intervention Systems (e.g., Lisbon City Council; Parish Councils; COMPARTE – Intervention with Refugees); Academic and Research Systems (e.g., Universities; Research Centres).
