Human Biology and Environment

Faculty of Sciences
Goals

The graduation course Biologia Humana e Ambiente has as its main objective the acquisition of knowledge about the environment and environmental changes and its direct consequences in relation with human health and lifestyle. In this context, this graduation course intends to infer about the interaction Environment – Human Health, with the aim of achieving several goals:

. Determine the impact that several types of chemical compounds may exert in the human body at different levels, especially through nutrition;

. Increase the knowledge on the vectors responsible for the spread of pathogens and their consequences on human populations;

. The study of the effects observed in humans, which will be approached in terms of metabolic response, immunological aspects and adaptation to stress.

Several tasks can be developed by the new graduates, namely: infer about the impact caused by diverse chemical compounds not only in humans by also in animals and environment; study the spreading of vectors responsible for the dissemination of pathogenic agents and their consequences in human populations; deduce metabolic, immunological and stress adaptation when a certain constraint occur.
