Goals

The specific objectives of the master's degree are to provide, to students of various courses, the achievement of specific and integrated skills in the scope of advanced training, with a strong theoretical, methodological and critical reflection component, possibly in a practical context of application, focusing on the following areas:

The dynamics of contemporary spatial organization in the context of globalization and global-local relations;

The processes and expressions of spatial injustice and segregation in urban areas;

The changes in the economy and the environment and their territorial repercussions on various scales;

The conflicts associated with changes in geopolitics and in the processes of competition for the various resources;

Trends in population mobility and migration and the construction of culturally diverse territories;

The cultural production of landscapes in their material, textual and performative dimensions, and the symbolic, experiential and emotional meanings of space and place;

The way in which changes in social organization and spatial organization are articulated.

Career prospects

In the Master's Degree in Human Geography: Globalization, Society and Territory the training is oriented towards two types of professional outlets: researchers and regional and urban planning and development professionals, with solid theoretical training, aware of the cultural diversity of contemporary societies and with a high sense of social responsibility in the practices of intervention in the territory. Employers are public and private consultancy, planning and spatial planning organisations, NGOs and research bodies.

The IGOT has a number of cooperation protocols with various public and private entities that provide professional internships.

Critérios de Admissão

Application requirements:
a) Holders of an undergraduate degree or legal equivalent in territorial sciences, planning, social sciences, environmental sciences and other related fields ;
b) Holders of a foreign higher education academic degree conferred following a 1st cycle of studies organized according to the principles of the Bologna Process by a State that has acceding to this Process;
c) Holders of a foreign higher education academic degree that is recognized as meeting the objectives of a degree by competent Scientific Council of the higher education institution where they wish to be admitted;
d) holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum vitae that is recognized as attesting the capacity to carry out this cycle of studies by the competent Scientific Council of the higher education institution where they wish to be admitted
