Information Security

The Master on Information Security (Mestrado em Segurança Informática) is an advanced and specialized Master program on Security and Dependability. This program is continuing the past success of dual MSIT-IS program that was previously offered in a cooperation between the Portuguese government and the Carnegie Mellon University, preparing professionals in the area of Information Security. The program confers the degree of Mestre em Segurança Informática (Master of Science in Information Security). It is directed towards graduate students and professionals in the area of information security and its applications (e.g. ERP, ASP, e-commerce, e-finance), including the security and dependability of critical infrastructures (e.g. power distribution, telecommunication networks). The need for specialists in the techniques that combine these facets is recognized at the governmental level, within the European Union as well as by Portuguese companies, which are strongly seeking for professionals with this background.
