Linguistics
This MA programme aims at developing scientific and technical skills necessary for carrying out original research or fulfil professional duties that rely on specialised knowledge of the mechanisms involved in structuring, producing, comprehending and using language. Students with an MA in Linguistics may engage in professional activities such as: creating, as part of larger teams, dictionaries, grammars, linguistic corpora or electronic linguistic resources; providing consulting services in clinical and educational areas concerning the development and disorders of oral and written language; preparing expert reports in forensic linguistics; working in educational (or other type of) projects in multilingual contexts; text editing and revision; rescuing and making available archival heritage. Given its flexible structure, the MA programme is suited for new professional profiles and favours the development of interdisciplinary links that may lead to new research areas.
Advanced training and theoretical and experimental research in interaction with other research areas.
Access and ingress
Students applying to this programme have to match one of the following conditions: a) Hold of Bachelor's degree or equivalent b) Hold of a foreign degree conferred following a 1st cycle of studies organised according to the Bologna Process by a State adhering to this process; c) Hold of a foreign degree that is recognised as meeting the objectives of the Bachelor’s degree by the Scientific Council; d) Hold an academic, scientific or professional curriculum recognised as attesting the capacity to accomplish this cycle of studies by the Scientific Council.
