Portuguese as a Foreign Language / Second Language
The programme aims to deepen the knowledge acquired in the 1st cycle, as legally established (DR 2nd Series, 58, 24 March 2009), thus allowing students to specialise themselves in the field of Portuguese Language and Culture (Foreign Language/ Second Language). Its specific objectives include:
a) promoting research and critical reflection on the overall situation of the Portuguese Language (PLE/PL2);
b) developing intercultural skills in the domain of Education and in the contexts of linguistic and cultural diversity;
c) developing core and strategic competences for the uptake and resolution of problems resulting from unfamiliar situations in multicultural contexts;
d) developing the necessary multicultural skills for the management of cultural diversity;
e) developing students' skills to deal with issues in education, learning, and evaluation of the Portuguese Language (PLE/PL2).
Research on the Portuguese language; professional paths in the area of teaching, learning and assessment of the Portuguese language (PLE/PL2); transversal and transdisciplinary projects related to culture and cultural mediation.
Access and ingress
Those legally determined in Article 15 of the University of Lisbon Post-Graduate Studies Regulation (Ordinance No. 2950/2015, DR, 2nd Series, No. 57, 23 March 2015): a) candidates with a Bachelor degree or any legally equivalent degree; b) candidates with a foreign academic degree, attributed as part of a 1st cycle of studies in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Process by a state participating in this Process; c) candidates with a foreign academic degree that is recognized as fulfilling the goals of a Bachelor degree by
the Scientific Council of the School where they are applying to; d) candidates with an academic, scientific or professional curriculum that confirms capacities for the completion of the programme and is recognized by the Scientific Council of the School where they are applying to.
