Telecommunications and Informatics Engineering
The Master Programme in Telecommunications and Informatics (METI) is aimed at graduating professionals in the area of Information and Communication Technologies, who should be able to effectively address the new challenges that emerge from the convergence of Information Technologies and Telecommunications.The holders of a METI will hold solid knowledge in these two engineering field thanks to the use of innovative teaching methods and to the interaction with the surrounding technological milieu, promoted by Taguspark, the largest Portuguese Science and Technology Park.Therefore, METI engineers are particularly skilled to deal with complex (fixed or mobile) communications networks, in the context of communications infrastructures, service development and/or applications.
Técnico MSc graduates in Telecommunications and Informatics Engineering can develop activities such as:
• Design, implement and guarantee maintenance of communication systems, and respective terrestrial and satellite networks;
• Design, install, configure and manage telecommunications networks, server clusters and data centers;
• Development of computer internet applications and mobile phone applications;
• Programming of multimedia, mobile, peer-to-peer and cloud applications, configuration and management of web servers and databases;
• Solve problems that arise in this activity, such as attacks on computer security, latency and reliability of communications, and the need for quick recovery in case of equipment failure.
• Marketing of products, equipment and processes;
• Consulting and leadership, leadership and management functions;
• Professional training and education.
