Nighttime Letter Writing

For around two hours, the entire ULisboa community is invited to gather at the Science Club - C6 Restaurant, in CIÊNCIAS - to write letters by hand asking for donations for students in financial need. The letters will be sent to a list of national companies in the following days, as part of the European Nighttime Letter Writing event. There will be tea, coffee and cakes to warm up the participants who join this initiative.

Nighttime Letter Writing was born at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology in 2016 with the aim of raising funds for students with disabilities. Since then it has been held annually, with over 600 letters written at last year's event. In 2023, it won the Unite!4Future competition and was extended to partner universities in this European project. This year, ULisboa, as a Unite! partner, is hosting the event in Portugal.

At this event, participants will also be able to learn about some of the projects that ULisboa has promoted in the field of well-being and inclusion, including the NEE-ULisboa Network, to support students with specific educational needs, the Plan for Gender Equality, Inclusion and Non-Discrimination, the Mental Health and Well-Being Program at ULisboa, the Project to Promote Success and Reduce Dropouts in Higher Education and the pioneering Sciences in Harmony project, carried out at the faculty hosting the event.

Unite! is an Alliance of European Universities that aims to continue the creation of the European Higher Education Area. Through a new generation, committed to transnational, transdisciplinary and multilingual cooperation, Unite! aims to create a European community that is capable of tackling major societal challenges, helping to affirm Europe's leadership as a knowledge area.

The event is free and open to the entire ULisboa community.
