ULisboa is launching the Atlas of Collaborative Laboratories 2024 during the third edition of the Scientific Days of the University of Lisbon, to be held on 25 June 2024 at the Rectory, under the theme "Current and Future Impact of Artificial Intelligence in the Workplace".
ULisboa publishes Atlas of Collaborative Laboratories
As emphasised by Cecília Rodrigues, Vice-Rector of the University of Lisbon, this ULisboa Atlas of Collaborative Laboratories (CoLABs) is a publication that reveals the remarkable progress and results achieved since the implementation of the initiative to create and promote CoLABs in Portugal.
Since 2017, the process of establishing these laboratories, under the “Programa Interface”, has been marked by the primary objective of generating qualified employment in Portugal, promoting the social and economic valorisation of knowledge. With a competitive and rigorous approach, these laboratories have been selected on the basis of research and innovation agendas aimed at creating economic and social value, as well as internationalising national scientific and technological capacity.
We currently have 18 CoLABs in which ULisboa participates, whose initiatives cover various areas of knowledge, both at regional and national level. These laboratories mobilise several hundred entities, including companies, demonstrating their potential to boost the country economic and scientific activity. The results achieved to date are impressive, directly contributing to the creation of highly qualified jobs, with a significant proportion occupied by doctoral graduates.
CoLABs have played a fundamental role in strengthening and complementing the current structure of Technology Interface Centres and other intermediary institutions in Portugal. By diversifying and complementing the existing structure, these laboratories promote the creation of social and economic value through qualified employment, stimulating the active participation of the scientific and academic system in solving complex problems and promoting the implementation of effective solutions with a socio-economic impact.
This Atlas is more than just a compilation of data; it is a demonstration of the ongoing commitment of ULisboa and its partner organisations to promoting collaborative research and innovation, with the aim of boosting Portugal sustainable development. We hope that this publication will be a source of inspiration and guidance for all those interested in strengthening the national innovation ecosystem.
ULisboa aims for this publication to be a source of inspiration and guidance for all those interested in strengthening the national innovation ecosystem, with the goal that CoLABs, including those in which ULisboa plays a key role, will continue to play a vital role in advancing research and innovation in Portugal, driving the country's economic and social progress.
