The Shanghai ranking, officially known as the “Academic Ranking of World Universities” (AWUR), the oldest international HEI (Higher Education Institution) ranking, is also internationally recognized as one of the most important rankings in Higher Education.
ULisboa among the 300 best universities in the world in the Shanghai ranking
In 2022, the University of Lisbon consolidated its position among the most prestigious higher education institutions in the world growing in indicators such as: number of indexed articles in the Science Citation Index-Expanded and in the Social Science Citation Index and per capita performance.
The ranking is updated annually and this year's edition evaluated over 2,500 Universities to select the top 1,000 for publication.
The Shanghai ranking is based on evaluate criteria such as: quality of education (number of alumni with Nobel Prize and Fields Medals), teaching (number of faculty with Nobel Prize and Fields Medals and number of highly cited researchers), research (number of articles published in scientific journals of “Nature and Science” and number of indexed articles in the Science Citation Index-Expanded and in the Social Science Citation Index) and per capita performance.
