Access and ingress
The general conditions of access to doctoral programs are regulated by law. Research in Biomedical Engineering has a deeply interdisciplinary nature , so there are no specific restrictions regarding the 1st and 2nd cycle degrees of the applicants to the doctoral program, although these tend to be degrees in the disciplines of science or engineering . Applicants must submit a workprogram and a CV, and a set of letters of recommendation, and the supervisor must be from IST (with possible co-advisors from other institutions) . The coordination of the doctoral program analyzes these documents and decides whether to accept the candidate. If necessary , an interview is conducted . The coordination may ask for clarification of the application documents from the candidate, the supervisor, or the people who wrote letters of reference to assess the suitability of the candidate for the program. Upon acceptance, the applicant may undertake their enrollment in the doctoral program .
