Environmental Engineering
Provide students with a solid basic training that enables them to intervene in the area of Environmental Engineering and monitor the evolution of knowledge and technologies throughout their professional practice. The program focuses on the acquisition of skills in methods of analysis, planning, design, management, monitoring and research. The development of basic transversal skills in information technology, design, mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology is sought.
Each student will be trained to:
• easily adapt to environmental changes as well as technological and societal changes;
• adapt existing methodologies to new problems;
• understand the economic, social and human aspects and their relationship with technical aspects, considering the environment as an asset in development processes;
• develop personal attitudes, such as creativity, learning, permanent updating, leadership, team work, and ethical and behavioral aspects.
The Environmental Engineering Degree has as its main objective to give students a solid training in environmental sciences, with support in the basic sciences of mathematics, chemistry and biology, allowing them to understand the important subjects for a graduate in Environmental Engineering, namely soil, water, energy and climate, ecology and biodiversity, territory, societal challenges and risks, and also reinforce the computational skills for modeling environmental problems. Environmental Engineering is a transversal activity and the degree favors interdisciplinarity and training for the analysis of environmental problems in an integrated perspective (ecological, social, economic and technological), necessary to obtain a balanced and sustainable development.
