Goals

Training expertise to the study of modes of production, transmission and preservation of communication, especially written communication, but also other verbal or non-verbal communication.These skills consist of knowledge of the methods inheritent to this field of studies and the reflexive discourse that controls and renews its theoretical foundations, while also enabling the student to act in the wide field of practical applications of the area of knowledge: a master in Textual Criticism examines cases of production and documented transmission of communication, proposes reasoned means to make accessible and legible production and transmission processes,adjusting the means to different target publics, and produces these means, which can be different types of scholarly edition (diplomatic, critical), electronic edition, proofreading for common editions, transposition of editions to specialised corpora, organic inventories of documents, codicological or manuscriptologic descriptions etc.

Career prospects

This course is oriented towards the development of advanced skills in terms of analysis, criticism, sustainability, communication and culture management. This transdisciplinary profile allows students to work in different sectors of the Cultural and Creative Industries, as well as Communication in its multiple variants.

Critérios de Admissão

Applicants must meet the following entry requirements: Be a BA (or legal equivalent) graduate; Hold a non-Portuguese Bologna 1st-cycle (Bachelor's) degree; Hold a non-Portuguese higher education degree that the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities has acknowledged as being equivalent to a Bachelor's degree. Under article 17 d) of Decree Law 74/2006, students meeting the following requirements may also apply: "d) Students with a strong academic, scientific or professional curriculum that has been assessed and acknowledged as apt by the official body responsible for admission to the specific University and course the student wishes to attend."
