Medical Physics
The Master's Degree in Medical Physics (MFM) aims to respond to the need for specific academic training required of qualified professionals in the field of Medical Physics within the scope of Directive 2013/59/EURATOM, transposed by Decree-Law no. 108/2018 and Ordinance no. 254/2021. The MFM will provide students with a comprehensive and integrated view of the scientific, technical, technological, socioeconomic, legal and ethical topics associated with Medical Physics, responding to legal requirements and international recommendations. The MFM curriculum plan (i) is based on updated recommendations from the European Commission, the “European Federation of Organizations For Medical Physics”; (ii) includes safety regulations, norms and standards of the International Atomic Energy Agency and the World Health Organization; (iii) takes into account similar courses already existing at reference Universities, and (iv) complies with the provisions of the Regulation on the Recognition of Specialists in Medical Physics (Ordinance No. 254/2021).
The MFM meets the academic training requirements necessary to obtain recognition as a Medical Physics Expert. Candidates should consult Ordinance No. 254/2021, of November 16th for the complete list of requirements for this recognition.
Access and ingress
You may apply for the Medical Physics (2nd study cycle) programme if you have completed an undergraduate or an integrated masters (1st study cycle) in Physics or related with a strong component in Physics and Mathematics.
