Territorial Management and Urban Studies
This offer at master's level aims to develop specialized training on policies, strategies, methodologies and tools of management and territorial development, allowing a multifaceted and critical approach of the problems and corresponding solutions. Still it gives special attention to issues relating to the role and dynamics of regional and sectoral authorities, the other private and associative actors.
The course aims to respond to an effective and potential demand from technical staff and practitioners in the field of land management and urbanism, as well as aims to give advanced training for students interested on theoretical debate, critical methodology and practice of planning and land management.
The relevance of this central goal can only be consistently met with an integrative approach to the issues under discussion and the provision of innovative, current and stimulating perspectives on territorial and urban issues.
Técnico MSc graduates in Territorial Management and Urban Studies may work in the design of systems, installations, equipment and services that promote the functioning of a territory. This Master Programme offers two types of professional opportunities: in research and in acting as a technical planning and territorial management, in employers such as:
• public and private consultancy bodies;
• land use planning and strategic planning;
• research entities.
Access and ingress
IGOT:Application requirements:
a) Holders of an undergraduate degree or legal equivalent in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Geography, Planning and Territory Management, Territorial Engineering, Urban and Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Sciences, Social Sciences, or related fields;
b) Holders of a foreign higher education academic degree conferred following a 1st cycle of studies organized according to the principles of the Bologna Process by a State that has acceding to this Process;
c) Holders of a foreign higher education academic degree that is recognized as meeting the objectives of a degree by competent Scientific Council of the higher education institution where they wish to be admitted;
d) holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum vitae that is recognized as attesting the capacity to carry out this cycle of studies by the competent Scientific Council of the higher education institution where they wish to be admitted.
IST:Only the students that meet the requirements below may apply for a 2nd cycle of IST or to a 2nd cycle of na IST Integrated MSC Programme:
- those who have concluded a 1st cycle degree programme, or a 1st cycle of an Integrated MSc Programme, which do not have scientific consistency with the 2nd cycle for which they apply;
- those who hold a 1st cycle degree in the area of Science and Technology (except for the 2nd cycle in Architecture which presupposes a 1st cycle programme in Architecture);
- those who have a school, scientific or professional background, certifying their capacity to carry out a MSc for which they apply.
